Counselor Supervisor / Trainer

Description

Biblical Counselor Supervisors/Trainers provide biblical counseling, supervision to biblical counselors and apprentices, and lead training events. They must posses a firm understanding of God’s Word and how to build a biblical framework around sin and suffering in people’s lives. The must be able to effectively lead a diverse group of biblical counselors.

Job Responsibilities

Counsel at least 15 hours per week, complete case report forms, and develop individualized care plans
Lead team building and equipping meetings
Develop resources, research, training materials, curriculum and blog posts.
Supervise Biblical Counselors, review case report forms and individualized care plans
Commit to personal growth through continuing education.

Requirements

Local to East Fort Worth, or surrounding area.
MA in Biblical Counseling, or similar education and ministerial experience
Preferable: ACBC, CCEF, or ABC certified
Affirm and commit to the Statement of Faith and Biblical Counseling Methodology
Display Christlike conduct and speech at all times and with all people
Active member of a Church that faithfully proclaims God’s Word
Faithful, diligent, trustworthy and knowledgeable
Able to use social media, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Google Docs, WordPress
Able to take notes, stay organized, and manage schedule
Hard-working, self-motivated, servant-leader

Luis and Tamera are active members of your church community. They are a couple in their late-20s with a 2-year-old son, Zack and have been married for 5 years. Tamera left her job to stay home and raise their son, previously, she was an up-and-coming HR manager. They confide in you that things are not going well so you set up a time to talk to them individually. When you speak to Tamera, she says: “Luis does not know what it feels like raising a two-year-old. I don’t get any sleep; I never have time to go out with the girls; I consider it a win if I wear anything but stretchy pants. Zack’s molars are coming in, so he is always irritated and ornery. Last month, I setup a romantic dinner with Luis at home. I found this amazing dress on sale. Right before Luis was supposed to get home, Zack threw up all over me. Frustrated, I showered and ate an entire tub of ice cream before Luis got home. Luis has been working non-stop lately. I feel so disconnected. It’s like I’m only here to take care of Zack, do laundry, and make dinner. I just wanted things to be like they were before. I miss date nights. We do not have any family nearby and there is no one I trust to watch Zack. It’s not like I have anything to wear though. I’m still trying to get rid of the baby fat, so I’m left wearing the same holey PJs every day. I feel like such a mess. My roots are showing, my split ends are crazy, and I haven’t had a mani/pedi in years. It feels like Luis doesn’t find me attractive anymore. I feel invisible. He used to look at me with such warmth and love. He spends all night watching sports and drinking whiskey. Last week, his phone rang so I brought it to him. He freaked out and accused me of going through his phone. I was shocked, I have never seen Luis act that way. We were both yelling, and Zack was crying in the other room. Then Luis stunned me by saying that he didn’t love me anymore and wants a divorce. I’m completely crushed. I don’t know what happened to my life.” When you speak to Luis, he says: “Tamera has let herself go. She wears PJs all day and seems to have forgotten I even exist. We used to enjoy vacations and going out to eat regularly. We did everything together. Now, our lives are ordered by Zack’s sleep schedule. Tamera babies Zack and gives him whatever he wants. He is in that terrible-twos stage and I just can’t handle him anymore. He only wants his mommy. Most nights I escape to my game room and drink. Work has been so stressful, and I’m exhausted when I get home. Tamera and I are so different from each other. Last week we got into this huge fight. A girl from work called me and Tamera lost it. She came at me hysterically yelling why this girl was calling me so late. She threw my work phone at me and it shattered as it hit the wall right by my head! Then she locked herself in the room with Zack. This was the final straw. I can’t live this lie anymore. For the past year she has been a different person. She completely ignores my needs. Most nights she is snoring before I even lay down.” Luis pauses and lets out a slow sigh. “I can’t believe I’m telling you this but there is this woman at work, Michaela. The one who called. She is gorgeous and such a strong Christian woman. We have been working late nights together most of this week to finish the proposal for that construction project downtown. A few weeks ago, we went on a work trip together. We were trying to bring on a new investor and he kept ordering bottles of wine. Next thing I know, I’m in Michaela’s room. We’ve been seeing each other after work since then. She is so much fun and has such a perfect body. She is nothing like Tamera. Last week, I finally told Tamera that I don’t love her anymore and I’m leaving her. I can’t bring myself to tell her the truth about Michaela, though. I guess I can’t hide it forever. God brought Michaela in my life for a reason. I just married the wrong woman. I asked Michaela to leave her husband and start a new life with me.
