There is a bottom-of-the-page study notes with all new commentary. I am just starting to dig into the riches of the study notes and have benefited from their insightful explanation and application of Scripture. There is also a center-column cross reference system for deeper study on themes and topics. The words of Jesus and emphasized with red lettering. At the end of the Study Bible is a comprehensive NIV concordance and 16 pages of full-color maps. The Study Bible comes in a number of different binding styles (hardcover, leather, ect) and print options (Standard, Large, and Personal Size). Shown above is the Hardcover Standard Print.
The NIV translation stands out because of its readability and accessibility. It is a phrase-by-phrase translation that leads to a more readable English translation. Sticking with this theme, the study notes and book introductions likewise focus on readability and accessibility. The book introductions are in paragraph form which aid in the readability but make it slightly more difficult for quick reference. In addition to the NIV editions in English, Vida Publishing is simultaneously releasing this Bible in Spanish as the NBLA Biblia de Estudio Gracia y Verdad.
Dr. Mohler is one of the foremost voices for evangelicals worldwide. He is the president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary – the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention. SBTS is where I received my degree and I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Mohler and SBTS. Along with Dr. Mohler; Dr. James M. Hamilton, Jr., Dr. Benjamin L. Merkle, and Dr. Mitchell L. Chase serve as editors.
This bible is best suited for Christians looking for deeper personal study in God’s Word. It is appropriate for new Christians as well as those who have studied the Scriptures for years. The study notes and introductions are easy to read and expound Scripture to aid in comprehension. They provide enough information to be helpful without diving too deep into nuanced theological positions.
