Escapism
Escapism is the tendency to avoid undesirable realities through distraction or redirecting towards a more pleasurable activity, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy. Escapism often goes hand-in-hand with addictions. Two ways we seek escapism in people’s life is in avoidance and distraction.
Addictions and Disordered Desires
When we desire the good gifts of God but fail to give Him the glory, it becomes a disordered desire. When these desires create social dysfunction, we refer to them as addictions. An Addiction is a disordered desire that is ruling our lives and is an outward manifestation of inward heart problem.
